Karl V Great discovery! After so many plays still truely enjoyable. Great 'dissapointing' atmosphere.
If the music isn't your style, still buy the album just for the sound of the bass guitar. Favorite track: Dreymeny.

starground If you ever wanted to know what my room is like when i did not tidy it up for a month... "Tükl-12" describes this in a song. There is stuff lying all over the place. Things on top of each other. Bags in bags in bags.
But in this seemingly chaotic biotope of sounds there is order.
You will find it if you listen closely! Or tidy up your room. :D Favorite track: Tükl-12.

about

This German power trio is conceptually focused on the idea of disappointment: letdowns, failures, shortcomings. And they walk the walk. Look how uncomfortable they are in their royal frockery. That one dude's beard is weak, and that one other dude doesn't even have a beard. And to top it off, their music is compositionally inspiring and flawlessly played and not disappointing at all. Way to go not being disappointing after all, Grimény.
- Tabs Out / Look at these Tapes 2016

"The English translation of the title for Grimény’s Die groβe Enttäuschung is roughly “the great disappointment.” Promotional materials for the Berlin trio have emphasized “their deepest love of letdown worship.” If this is the sound of the religious music for that faith, sign me up because this tape is sick! Though they hail from Deutschland, Grimény’s sound is more akin to the American space and math rock of the 1990s like Tortoise, Don Caballero, Trans Am and Ui. However, Grimény’s approach eschews the electronic and jazz elements of those acts in favor of a fairly straight ahead guitar/bass/drums attack, albeit FX-drenched, occasionally producing noisier ambient sections on those same instruments.
The only voices heard on the album are in spoken-word passages, including a guest spot from Carel Struycken, best known as the giant from Twin Peaks and Lurch from the Addams Family movies. Otherwise, this is a nonstop barrage of instrumentation. The constant sense of tension throughout provides an unrelenting despair that befits the title and theme. It is in their sheer stamina that Grimény fall closest to their elder German brethren of Can and Neu!, but otherwise this has little in common with Krautrock, although some of these tracks, such as the finale “Der gelbe Schrecken,” would make great film scores, something that German acts such as Tangerine Dream and Popol Vuh were known to produce in the 1970s and ‘80s.
Although the music is driving enough to bump in your ride, the album seems best suited for playing at home in the evening when it’s getting darker outside. The cassette runs nearly an hour long. It could benefit the listener to become lost inside of Grimény’s walls by putting them on at maximum volume after a long day of disappointment. Close attention is advised to receive the full impact."

about

Grimény Berlin, Germany

A band evolves out of their deepest love for letdown worship.
Permanent disappointment makes every musical particle a true 'Enttäuschung'.
Their music sprinkles the listeners front-side with the firmed sound of space spalling and wrung out measures, diffuse emotions and witty psyche.
The trio brings together the sprites of Nico Vetter, Torsten Lang and Falk Meutzner.
